Starting in 1929, the young nation of Czechoslovakia began minting these trade coins in 5 and 10 Ducat sizes, depicting King Wenceslaus on the obverse and a coat of arms with the Czech lion on the reverse. Recent years have seen the absolute skyrocket of these ducat trade coins from Czechoslovakia, although examples of the 1930 have eluded auction houses. Second overall only to the final two years of minting (1937 and 1938), the 1930 boasts the lowest mintage of any year (543 pieces compared to between 1000-1800 between 1929 and 1931-1935.) Although this example is very lightly cleaned, one needs a good halogen light to really see the cleaning. It is a stunning piece of true history and an incredible rarity.
